UIC has over 300,000 alumni, and is one of the largest employers in the city of Chicago.Description:Position Summary:The Precision Antimicrobial Laboratory of Dr. Zackery Bulman in the Retzky College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking to fill a Research Specialist position in the area of microbiology (https://idg.pharmacy.uic.edu/research-2/bulman-lab/). The Research Specialist will primarily be responsible for the design and conduct of in vitro microbiology studies in the area of antimicrobial pharmacology.The College of Pharmacy at UIC, with campuses in Chicago and Rockford, is the #1 college of pharmacy in the state of Illinois and the #15 college in the US ranked by US News & World Report. More information about the College and Department of Pharmacy Practice can be found at https://pharmacy.uic.edu and https://dpp.pharmacy.uic.edu.Duties & Responsibilities:Collaborate with principal investigator to develop, prepare, and execute research projects including, but not limited to, the following: infection models, susceptibility testing, and antimicrobial resistance experiments.Collect and document high-quality results and data that correspond to the research objectives.Maintain updated experimental protocols outlining equipment setup, data collection, and data evaluation.Contribute material, prepare results, and assist in writing up findings.Organize and prepare daily research activities.Maintain well-organized laboratory space.Monitor and maintain lab inventory.Guide, train, and mentor lower-level researchers and students on techniques, methods, and procedures.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. Master’s degree in science preferred.A minimum of 3 years related research experience.Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods.Proficient in specific lab research techniques.Preferred Qualifications:
