The Director will provide strategic and collaborative leadership and vision and is responsible for shaping the Institute’s mission and profile. This position leads the efforts to present all exhibitions and programs in a successful and professional manner. The Director has primary responsibility for all aspects of the Institute’s operation and management, including fiscal and personnel management, as well as for raising funds to support the Institute.Minimum Requirements:
Undergraduate Degree in Art History, Arts Management or Museums Studies. Master’s degree preferred. At least three years of experience in a museum, gallery, or cultural institution managing and curating exhibitions. Professional experience in higher education or non-profit environment preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Background in Art History, Arts Management, or Museums Studies. Previous experience in a supervisory role. Experience with exhibition planning, design, and installation. Experience with the development and implementation of strategic plans. Understanding of standards and best practices for museums, galleries, or similar organizations. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Basic computer knowledge.Additional Comments Regarding Position:
Attend events and programs presented by the Halsey Institute. Frequent evening and weekend events.Special Instructions to Applicants:
