A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $8,531-$24,005 (based on salary points 1-36). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.Percent time:

Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding.
This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2024 through fall quarter 2025.
Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.Position duration:

The department offers courses in a broad range of areas including, but not limited to the following genres:English-language literatures, including American and British literaturesFrench and Francophone literatures (in French and in translation)German literature (in German and in translation)Greek and Latin literatures (in original and in translation)Italian literature (in Italian and in translation)Russian literature (in translation)Comparative literatureDigital humanitiesIndigenous literaturesNon-western literaturesPostcolonial literatureVisual, performative, sonic, filmic, and other mediaApplicants with a record of teaching excellence are strongly encouraged to apply.Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.Qualifications
Basic qualifications
