Azim Premji University, Bhopal started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The first phase of campus construction is complete and the overall 50-acre campus with state-of-the-art academic and residential facilities will be ready over the next few years. We expect to grow to about 4000 students and 500 members over the next few years.
We are expanding our programme offerings and are inviting applications for full-time faculty positions. We will offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, development, and research opportunities, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies.
We are looking for candidates interested in contributing to the areas of Child Development and Learning (CDL) in the MA Education programme. In addition to those who have engaged in child development academically, we also encourage candidates with significant field experience to apply.
Minimum Requirements:
For academics: An advanced degree in Human Development and Childhood Studies/ Developmental Psychology/MA Education degree with keen interest and work experience in Child Development and Learning/Early Childhood Education.
For experienced practitioners: On-the-ground experience of more than 10 years and a postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in any relevant field.
Capacity to be reflective and think critically.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to engage with a diverse student body.
Capacity to teach and develop courses at a Master’s level Education programme.
Ability to engage with students in Hindi and English.
Responsibilities:As a faculty member in Child Development and Learning (CDL), you will be required to:
Teach postgraduate courses in CDL, focusing on human development perspective.
Incorporate psychological, sociological, anthropological, and neuroscientific lenses to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of a child's development.
Explore theories of cognitive development and learning to help students understand how children construct knowledge and acquire age-appropriate learning capabilities.
Discuss concepts relevant to a child's sense of self, gender, emotions, motivation, morality, and identity, with a focus on adolescence.
Mentor students and support their learning in the classroom, encourage critical thinking, reflection, and dialogue among students.
Prepare students for extended field practice.
Work closely with other colleagues in the MA Education programme to work collaboratively and support students in their learning.
Take up institutional responsibilities as and when required.
Engage in research and writing for own academic growth and contribute to the field.
