About EPIC and the Role

The Economic Policy Innovation Center (EPIC) is hiring a Research Assistant.

EPIC develops and promotes economic policy to advance a free and prosperous America. We achieve this through original research to inform practical policy solutions, providing federal policymakers with the information they need to promote growth and opportunity for all Americans.

The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to join a dynamic policy organization and be deeply involved with EPIC’s original research and analysis on a variety of critical economic topics, alongside respected policy experts in the field.This role will be primarily in-person at our Capitol Hill offices.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Research Assistant will:

Assist the Director of Budget Policy and EPIC’s policy team with research for topics related to EPIC’s policy priorities.

Diligently analyze data sets and present findings in a clear, concise manner.

Create presentations for briefings and help execute briefing events by organizing logistics and background preparations for the events.

Help determine research angles for original analysis for publication on EPIC’s website.

Maintain awareness of legislative, regulatory, and federal government policies that impact EPIC’s policy work.

Analyze legislative bill text and other economic research to shape and develop EPIC’s workstreams.

Help the Director of Budget Policy and other EPIC staff prepare for meetings.

Develop one-pagers and other materials from longer research papers, for use in external meetings and for publication on EPIC’s website.

Assistant EPIC’s President & CEO with research projects as required.

The Research Assistant will report to the Director of Budget Policy. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

1 to 4 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Baseline knowledge of economic policy, appropriations process, and/or budgetary policy.

Ability to review large amounts of data and hone in on relevant information.

Enthusiasm for taking initiative and pursuing research avenues to supplement the work of the EPIC policy team.

Strong writing skills and familiarity with copyediting standards.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new platforms.

Capacity to handle multiple projects in an active environment with a small but growing team.

A belief in free markets, limited government, and a faith in the capacity and ingenuity of the American people.
