About EPIC and the Role
The Economic Policy Innovation Center (EPIC) is hiring a Budget Policy Analyst.
EPIC develops and promotes economic policy to advance a free and prosperous America. We achieve this through original research to inform practical policy solutions, providing federal policymakers with the information they need to promote growth and opportunity for all Americans.
The Budget Policy Analyst will have the opportunity to join a dynamic policy organization and begin making an impact through research, writing, and working with other policy experts. This role will be primarily in person at our Capitol Hill offices.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Budget Policy Analyst will:
Work with the Director of Budget Policy and other experts at EPIC to advance responsible fiscal policy ideas.
Conduct assigned and self-guided research in a variety of budgetary topics, including but not limited to appropriations, budget process reform, corporate welfare, debt and deficits, entitlement programs, federalism, taxes, transportation, and welfare reform.
Provide accurate analysis of legislative and other policy proposals.
Author blog posts, issue briefs, and contribute to research papers.
Build accurate and well-formatted charts and graphs.
Assist with and conduct outreach to Congressional staff audiences.
The Budget Policy Analyst will report to the Director of Budget Policy. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
2 to 8 years of experience with fiscal policy issues, with a solid understanding of the federal budget process and terminology.
Quantitative research skills, working with data from the Congressional Budget Office and other sources.
Demonstrated writing ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely.
Capacity to handle multiple projects in an active environment with a small but growing team.
A belief in free markets, limited government, and a faith in the capacity and ingenuity of the American people.
