Job OverviewThe Development Director plays a vital role in advancing our organization's mission by leading fundraising initiatives and cultivating relationships with donors, stakeholders, and the community. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in development, public relations, and data management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with our organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Define a strategy to exceed Renewal Ranch fundraising goals within the approved operational expense budget. Execute the strategy. Exceed the goals.
Plan, coordinate, manage, and evaluate all fundraising development programs, including concepts, revenue, expense, staff, volunteers, reports, and donor acknowledgments.
Manage a portfolio of major donors and cultivate donor relationships with individuals, businesses, churches, and foundations, resulting in exceeding financial targets.
Define content messaging for marketing, fundraising, campaign management, donor management, and grant acquisition and management activities. Create protocol to manage and protect all “official” Renewal Ranch content.
Develop a planned giving program that will result in bequests through wills and trusts.
Write and oversee grant applications with input from other Renewal Ranch employees.
Maintain strong relationships with existing donors and create connections for a new comprehensive capital campaign, based on the RR Master Plan for land development, buildings, expansion of programs and services, need for talented staffing, equipment, and technology.
Proactively seek major gifts from individuals, businesses, churches, and foundations. Motivate and monitor volunteers and connectors who will invite donors to make thoughtful and significant gifts for Renewal Ranch’s current and future work.
Oversee RR brand, marketing, PR, website, social media, print materials, messaging, and direct mail.
Work with the Executive Director in defining a comprehensive strategy for acquiring grants for Renewal Ranch. This should include a clear system for prioritizing opportunities and distinct roles and accountabilities for grant evaluations and applications, plus administration for grants received. Administration requirements should always be fully understood and communicated BEFORE money is allocated.
Lead the marketing, fundraising development, and communication team to trust the Lord, who will supply our needs for His work.
Meet the Residents of Renewal Ranch at their point of need.
Maintain consistent spiritual and professional growth.
Complete special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements
Proven experience in development or fundraising roles, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
Strong skills in proposal writing and strategic planning.
Proficiency in data management systems, particularly Network for Good or similar databases.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Experience in public relations or marketing is preferred.
Ability to conduct thorough research to support fundraising initiatives.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
