The prime objective is to optimize the overall environmental aspects of the organization across the value chain in order to enhance the corporate image with proactive consumer and customer oriented activities and external engagement. Working with internal and external partners, the position develops, implements and maintains robust environmental strategies, policies and plans that foster a culture where environmental compliance and sustainability is ingrained as a core value, promoting a highly efficient, low cost value chain with a continuous improvement mindset. The Environmental Director is the expert resource to build capability of other internal company resources and as such acts to build environmental knowledge and capability across the organization.This role will be based at our office in Solon, Ohio and work a hybrid schedule blend of in office/at home. Relocation to the Solon area is required for candidates that do not currently live in the area.Responsibilities:Environmental strategies, programs, systems and plans - Develops Environmental best in class programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on environmental measures and precautions in accordance with ISO 14001 and other relevant internal and external standards. Develops and maintains appropriate regulatory and internal environmental audit protocols that ensure corporate and all facilities are in compliance with company and regulatory agencies' policies pertaining to Environment and Environmental Sustainability.Environmental Remediation project management - Lead the management of all Company remediation projects. Assemble and manage teams of internal and external expert resources to minimize cost, long term liability and time of remedial activities.SH&E Staff support training and capability building - Serve as NUSA Environmental counsel to support other leaders of business/function/category. Provide coaching and training to, and regularly interact with, organizational leaders and SH&E experts in SH&E leadership and functionally related areas.Liaison and technical expertise - Provides technical expertise in all areas and initiatives of the function. Partners with internal and external partners to deliver on a variety of initiatives including legal, procurement, packaging, engineering, operations, quality, etc.Key Initiatives - In addition to overall input to corporate Environmental initiatives, strategies, programs and procedures, responsibilities include supporting facilities and groups (including other Nestle Markets) via hands on counsel, supervision, assessment and team work in particular where expert environmental counsel may be needed.Travel required - average = 40-50%Requirements and Minimum Education:Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline and/or Environmentally related fieldEnvironmental Professional Certification (CEM, etc.) strongly preferredThorough and detailed knowledge and interpretive ability of state and federal environmental and remediation regulationsMinimum 5 years factory experience and/or division, regional, or corporate environmental experience.Strong communications, strategic, training, and motivational management and leadership skills.Good technical understanding of Environmental issues and their relationship to production/engineering and job functions as it relates to building in prevention.Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skillsMust be capable of working in a fast paced environment with minimal direct supervision and have strong demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and self-initiative skills.Strong demonstrated verbal / written communications, analytical and problem solving skills. Must be detailed and results oriented.Ability to communicate complex regulatory and technical issues in lay terms.Strong change management, team building abilitiesAbility to achieve results through dotted line situationsProficiency with Windows based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
