Position Summary:
The Environmental Director position ensures the environmental performance and acts as a functional expert resource in the organization. The prime objective is to optimize the overall environmental aspects of the organization across the value chain in order to enhance the corporate image with proactive consumer and customer oriented activities and external engagement. Working with internal and external partners, the position develops, implements and maintains robust environmental strategies, policies and plans that foster a culture where environmental compliance and sustainability is ingrained as a core value, promoting a highly efficient, low cost value chain with a continuous improvement mindset. The Environmental Director is the expert resource to build capability of other internal company resources and as such acts to build environmental knowledge and capability across the organization.
This role will be based at our office in Solon, Ohio and work a hybrid schedule blend of in office/at home. Relocation to the Solon area is required for candidates that do not currently live in the area.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Environmental strategies, programs, systems and plans, including training and coaching in accordance with ISO 14001 and other relevant standards.
Lead the management of all Company remediation projects, minimizing cost and long-term liability.
Serve as NUSA Environmental counsel to support other leaders and provide training and capability building of SH&E facility experts.
Provide technical expertise and partner with internal and external partners on various initiatives.
Support facilities and groups via hands-on counsel and teamwork in corporate Environmental initiatives.
Travel required – average = 40-50%.
Requirements and Minimum Education:
Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline and/or Environmentally related field.
Environmental Professional Certification (CEM, etc.) strongly preferred.
Thorough knowledge of state and federal environmental and remediation regulations.
Minimum 5 years factory or corporate environmental experience.
Strong communication, strategic, training, and motivational management skills.
Good technical understanding of Environmental issues related to production and engineering.
Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal/written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate complex regulatory issues in lay terms.
Strong change management and team building abilities.
Proficiency with Windows-based applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop others.
