Status: Full time permanent, 2 24-hour shifts every 8 days, represented by Local 1631Salary: FY25 - FF40 $29.40 - $34.86 per hourGeneral Summary:Protects life and property by performing firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention duties. Maintains fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.Essential Job Functions:Performs firefighting activities including driving fire apparatus, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks.Performs emergency aid activities including administering first aid and providing other assistance as required.Participates in fire drills, attends classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects.Participates in inspection of buildings, hydrants, and other structures in fire prevention programs.Maintains fire equipment, apparatus and facilities.Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire facilities and equipment.Assists in developing plans for special assignments such as emergency preparedness, hazardous communications, training programs, firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency aid activities.Presents programs to the community on safety, medical, and fire prevention topics.Performs salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, and removing debris.Must be Massachusetts State certified (EMT/P) Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic on date of hire, or currently enrolled in a paramedic program, and said certification shall be maintained as a condition of employment.Pro Board-Certified Firefighter I/II from a full-time Fire Academy is desired.Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment.Must possess or be able to obtain by the time of hire, a valid State driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation in any State.Must be able to pass all pre-employment tests, including but not limited to physical abilities, pre-employment physical screening and criminal background check.Lateral Entry:Must be Pro Board-Certified FF I/II from a full-time Fire Academy; Must possess a current EMT-P Certificate at the time of appointment; Must meet all entry level requirements as stated above.Contact:Interested and qualified candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to the email address
