Founded in 1962, Cameron Art Museum (CAM) provides a cultural gathering place that enriches the lives of museum visitors and the community through high-quality exhibitions, lifelong learning in the arts, dynamic public programs, and stewardship and interpretation of the collection. CAM is the premiere art museum in southeastern NC. The museum’s budget of $3.7 million is funded through contributions from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government sources, as well as earned income from admissions, programs, the Museum School, facility rentals, the shop, and the CAM Café. Position Overview:

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Annual Giving & Events (DoAG) is a full-time position with primary responsibility for managing Annual Giving and Special Fundraising Events, with an annual goal of $2.2 million. The DoAG has direct supervision over the Donor Engagement and Research Administrator and the Membership and Stewardship Administrator. The DoAG will coordinate and manage all fundraising methods used to encourage annual giving, including direct mail, social media, email, and periodic in-person solicitations. This position will create and execute an annual giving plan to include solicitation schedule, list segmentation and analysis, and goals. The DoAG will oversee daily gift processing and financial reporting, integrity of biographical and gift records, and personalized stewardship. In addition, they will provide coordination and support for special cultivation and fundraising events.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement an annual giving plan and provide direct supervision over development team.

Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders.

Execute all annual giving efforts including:

Coordinate the cultivation and solicitation of donors and prospects, manage the coding of all records in database Altru, produce regular reports on number of donors and dollars raised, prospect for new members and upgrade current members.

Manage a group of volunteer leaders to assist with cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current members/donors and new prospects.

Set goals based on past results, manage segmentation and coding of the mailing list, coordinate production schedule, including content and creative design, and coordinate internal production of hand-signed letters and mail production.

Regularly review content of all acknowledgment letters, updating text annually, and ensuring all procedures for the acknowledgment process are documented.

Conduct thank you calls as gifts come in, especially at $500+, with the goal to move donors into higher giving levels.

Coordinate other periodic donor communications as needed, including holiday cards and other stewardship mailings.

Develop and implement a stewardship program for annual donors aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors.

Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the annual giving program towards its goals.

Articulate Cameron Art Museum’s mission and accomplishments.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Staff Management:

Maintain development team’s operating rhythm to include stand-up meetings, 1:1 meetings, bi-weekly staff meetings, and annual retreat.

Manage, train, and mentor development team members on queries and reports, and mailing list production.

Ensure staff are cross-trained on key responsibilities to cover for each other in case of illness, vacations, or other absences.

Ensure written Policy and Procedure Manual content is updated by the Philanthropy Team to ensure standards for data entry and reporting needs.

Qualifications:

5-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in annual giving and events.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors.

Ability to construct, articulate, and implement an annual giving plan.

Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.

Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Cameron Art Museum.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.

Experience working in donor database systems.

Respect for confidentiality of donor records.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.

High energy and passion for Cameron Art Museum’s mission is essential.
