Essential Function
The Director of Curriculum and Assessment provides leadership and guidance assisting faculty with curriculum development and design and implementing college-wide assessment. The Director oversees curriculum review cycles, coordination of assessment plans, collection, analysis, and reporting of data, and implementation of improvement strategies. Supervise input of curriculum and assessment data and reports into the College’s management system.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in a related field required.
Experience:Minimum of three years experience in higher education; direct experience working with faculty and college/departmental administrators
Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of assessment concepts and methods used to evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and meet accreditation standards. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and innovation. Knowledge of best practices in pedagogy and learner-centered teaching strategies.
Skills: Effective time management, strong organizational skills, and ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and other colleagues. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing including presentations. Proficient in the use of email, and working knowledge of standard office software applications to analyze data, generate reports, and create presentations. Detail orientated and able to think critically and work independently to resolve problems.
Responsibilities
1. Provides guidance and expertise assisting faculty with curriculum design aligning with learning-centered strategies and outcomes.
2. Participates in planning and committee meetings for College Curriculum.
3. Keeps current with curriculum innovation and provides direction and training for continuous quality improvement of curriculum.
4. Develops materials and resources, and trains faculty and staff in the areas of curricular design, learning outcomes, articulation, and IAI (Illinois Articulation Initiative).
5. Oversees the planning and coordination of assessment activity on campus and supports the evaluation and ongoing improvement of learning outcomes.
6. Consults and offers guidance to faculty in the development of program and course assessment plans and strategies.
7. Assists faculty with the annual assessment of General Education outcomes.
8. Reviews with faculty submitted assessment reports for completeness and planned next stepsfollowing results of assessment plans.
9. Facilitates integration of assessment practices for the continuous quality improvement of curricula of the College.
10. Provides training on assessment methods and implementation to develop knowledge and continuance of assessment skills of faculty and staff to support effective assessment practices at the College.
11. Oversees and offers technical support to faculty and staff for the College’s Curriculum and Assessment record management systems for data entry, archival, and creation of reports.
12. Guides and participates in the work of the Assessment Committee and its sub-committees.
13. In collaboration with Institutional Research, facilitates the dissemination and review of assessment findings to College constituencies for the continuous improvement of academic programs.
14. In collaboration with Institutional Research, coordinates the preparation of various assessment reports utilizing assessment data.
15. Attends and participates in key functions related to the role as Director of Curriculum and Assessment.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
