We investigate HIV transmission in various human cohorts to examine mechanisms of HIV-1 transmission, antibody effectiveness and virus evolution. The research program will focus on recent findings that highlight the importance of antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity and concurrent diseases, such as mycobacterium tuberculosis.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:We are looking for highly talented, creative, and independent-minded post-doc candidates to fit into any one of the major endeavors of the lab:Identifying and isolating antibodies associated with protection against mother to child HIV-1 transmissionInvestigating impact of mycobacterial tuberculosis disease on HIV immune response and HIV reservoirBoth programs include human clinical cohorts with rich demographic, immunological and virological data. The experimental approaches will span molecular biology, immunology, and virology.EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCES REQUIRED:Expertise in basic virology/molecular/cell biology/immunology techniques such as animal cell culture, virus production, neutralization, lentiviral vector production, molecular cloning, Western blot, flow cytometry, ELISA, protein expression and purification, knowledge of CRISPR technology, microscopy, human immune cell assays, etc.Prior experience in working with large datasets along with next generation sequencing analysis is highly desirable.
