Position SummaryReporting to the Associate Director of Social Media, the Social Media Coordinator assists the social media team in creating, executing, measuring and tracking progress on social media programs, with a focus on producing video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories to engage online communities. The new hire will be responsible for the entire video creation process, from brainstorming ideas to scripting, filming, editing, posting and managing the community response to content to drive organic engagement. The new hire should have a strong interest in human-centered storytelling, simplifying and bringing complex research topics and other stories to life on social media, and deep knowledge of social media trends.

QualificationsExperience working cross-platform between Mac and PC environments; working knowledge of social media file conversion and specs/ratios. (Required)Ideally, previous experience working as a student worker in a higher-education / university setting. (Preferred)Working knowledge of social media platforms and social media video (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.). Willingness to keep abreast of social media trends and technologies and contribute frequent suggestions. Ability to learn software applications and systems. (Required)Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is subject to last-minute changes; organizational skills to manage multiple jobs simultaneously, all while working with fixed schedules and deadlines. (Required)Strong ownership, deadline-oriented and proven proactive management including ability to independently prioritize and track complex, competing schedules; proactively anticipate and complete tasks; and self-initiate programs. (Required)Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication and ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a willingness to work across departments to build project teams as well as with external partners. (Required)Excellent communication, soft and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build cooperative, effective relationships with high-level staff, co-workers, and student collaborators while being tactful. Ability to work harmoniously and as a team player, thrive in a team-based environment, and skill in fostering teamwork among others. Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and to maintain confidentiality. Possess strong internet research skills with the ability to find and compile interesting and relevant content (blog posts, news items, photos, video, etc.) (Required)Knowledge/understanding of basic marketing principles and strategies. (Required)Excellent spelling, grammar, copywriting, and image/video editing skills. (Required)Ability to follow directions from supervisors and to provide clear directions to staff and student employees and take lead when needed. Attention to detail, demonstrated capacity for carrying out tasks in an accurate manner, and ability to check own work for accuracy and report. (Required)Knowledge and commitment to EDI values in storytelling year-round. (Required)Interest in coordinating with student employees, including orienting, training, organizing workflow, monitoring and evaluating performance, and coaching and counseling when necessary. (Required)Knowledge of social media management tools, video editing softwares (ex: Sprout, TINT, etc.) and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
