Food Preparation Specialist
to join our fun-filled team. You are collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated! The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team. Most importantly, you are creative at heart and have a passion for ice cream and other tasty treats.Your Day-to-Day:Follow the prep list created by MOIC leadership to plan dutiesMaintain food storage facilities at the highest level such as walk coolers and freezersEnsure dishwashing equipment and area is always maintained to the highest standardsResponsible for stocking ice cream stations in various rooms in the museumLabel and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessibleUndertake basic cooking duties such as making syrups, cutting garnishes, etc.Maintain the back of house area by keeping clean and orderly kitchen operations and wash, sanitize and disinfect surfacesEnsure all food and other items are stored properlyComply with nutrition and sanitation guidelinesPerform other kitchen/cafe/bar duties as assignedAssist in washing and restocking glassware for bar/cafe itemsServe ice cream and other treats to guests while maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanlinessPerform other duties not listed here that may be assigned by leadershipThe Necessities and Nice-to-Haves:18 years or olderOpen availability, including weekends1+ year of previous preparation/line cook experience in high volume establishmentsFood Handler or ServeSafe certification preferred (we provide while on the job)Ability to improvise under a variety of circumstancesWillingness to perform other duties as assignedEssential Job Functions:Standing and walking on your feet for long periods of time, up to 8 hoursBend/lift heavy objects of up to 40 poundsBenefits:Annual team celebration called Pinkball (yes, it is “pink-tie” themed and you can bring a date!)Unlimited ice creamCompetitive PayFree entry for self at any MOIC location4 free museum tickets per quarter (16 per year) for friends and family + discounts on additional tickets50% off retail productsMonthly team outings
