POSITION SUMMARY

Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Director of Environmental Health and Safety at our Marinette, Wisconsin location. The Director of EHS is the strategic leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, implement, and manage EH&S programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Maintain and improve safety management systems (ISO 14001/ISO 45001).

Ensure integration of EH&S considerations into various aspects of the organization's operations.

Stay abreast of changes in environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards.

Ensure the organization's compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential environmental, health, and safety hazards.

Collaborate with departmental managers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Develop EH&S training programs for employees at all levels. Deliver appropriate training programs to select teams.

Foster a culture of safety consciousness and environmental responsibility through education and communication.

Assist in investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.

Prepare comprehensive reports, including recommendations for preventive measures.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to EH&S programs, incidents, and compliance.

Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.

Develop and implement initiatives to enhance environmental sustainability.

Work with senior leadership to align EH&S initiatives with overall business strategy.

Provide strategic guidance on emerging EH&S trends and technologies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to ensure a holistic approach to EH&S.

Track and communicate EH&S goals, initiatives, and performance metrics to employees at all levels.

Champion safety awareness across the company.

Support management of worker's compensation cases, tracking and reporting of MOD rating.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 1 - 3 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the Company.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.

5-10 years of progressive experience in environment, safety, and sustainability management.

Proven experience in EH&S management, with a track record of successful program development and implementation.

Experience working in a union environment.

Strong knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, Maritime, hazard communications, accident investigation and safety training methods) and environmental regulations (EPCRA, CAA, CWA, and SARAIII).

Knowledgeable about best practice safety and environmental approaches.

SKILLS:

Qualified candidates must be a certified first responder or have the ability to gain certification.

Must have good judgement and decision making skills.

Must have strong organizational and time management skills.

Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.

Must have the desire to advance and constantly challenge oneself.

Must have effective written and verbal communication skills (bilingual is a plus).

Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.

Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Power Point.
