Responsible for leading, overseeing, or performing engineering design, traffic operations and analysis using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Acts as a technical advisor and mentor to less experienced engineers.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Technical lead and mentor for traffic engineering staff in New JerseyLead the development of multiple concurrent projects and tasksRepresent JMT in client meetingsDevelop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizationsCoordinate with multi-disciplined teams. Manage schedule and budget for project tasks.Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scopeUtilize various design software/tools (Synchro, HCS, and/or VISSIM) for traffic analysis for a variety of conditions to perform traffic modeling and analysis, including signal systems.Prepare or lead the preparation of technical reports which include traffic impact, transportation planning and traffic safety. Work elements may include volume development calculations, crash evaluations/safety assessments and HSM analysis.Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing toolsAssist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and constructionDevelop scope and fee for task proposalsLead or assist in the development of marketing proposalsAttend meetings with clientsAssist with development of project scheduleCoordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established qualityNonessential Functions and Responsibilities:Perform other related duties as assignedRequired Skills:Proficient in traffic modeling and analysis softwareProficient in Microsoft OfficeStrong written and communication skillsRequired Experience:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program10+ years' experience in traffic engineeringProfessional Engineer LicensePreferred Experience:Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)Experience working with local clients at the county and state levelExperience with PANYNJ and NJDOTWorking Conditions:Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasions where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
