Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Software – SW Applications Test Engineer (RA) (24-393) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. This position will participate in software design and peer reviews, develop test specifications and infrastructure, execute manual and automated tests, and perform analysis of C2BMC implementation.

Essential Functions:

Possess experience testing and evaluating a software-intensive system in various test environments/venues, utilizing Agile development.

Requires a robust and self-starting individual capable of diving into problems with assistance from other test engineers and software developers.

Experience should include:

Use of DoD test methodologies

Functional capability-related test/analysis planning and execution

Planning and execution of test data collection

Test data analysis and reporting.

The analysis experience should involve:

Characterizing system performance using quantitative methods

Reporting the characterization to subsequent users

Contributing to performance assessment by program system engineers.

Coordinate lab resources, test results, and verification status with the C2BMC program and customers.

Be a leader on the team and help Junior Engineers with problems that might arise.

Occasional travel between Colorado Springs facilities/sites and Huntsville, AL, is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

An active Secret clearance is required to start.

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree and 6 years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

DoD 8140 certification at

IAT Level II or higher

is required to start or must be obtained within 60 days of the start date.

Knowledge and experience with tests.

Experience with an Agile development process.

Automated testing for requirement verification and performance assessment requirement and verification analysis.

Conducting post-processing and analysis of collected data.

Development of action plans based upon analysis of data.

Automated Test Frameworks like:

Cucumber

RIA Test

Telerik Test Studio

Experience in:

GIT

Jenkins

Technical Team Leadership

Jira

Confluence

Documenting software deficiency reports.

Present analysis results and action plans orally and/or in written format.

Must possess strong verbal/written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a DevSecOps environment is extremely desirable.

6 years of experience with a Master’s degree is highly desired.
