The Tesla Energy Products team is bringing Battery, Solar V2X and Charging technology to the grid to facilitate a renewable energy ecosystem and redefine the way the world will use energy in the future. As part of the Systems & Architecture team, you are the design leadership that defines and leads Tesla's residential product strategy to meet those goals by leveraging your physics fundamentals, systems optimization thinking, simulation tools and common sense. This role involves collaboration with designers, engineering, manufacturing, sales and finance and requires the ability to distill highly technical information and effectively communicate with other teams and management. Responsibilities
Owns system architecture design and product specifications Tesla Energy Products such as Powerwall, Solar Inverter, Vehicle-2-Grid (V2G), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Gateways and Home Charging through physics-based fundamental principles analysis, modeling and system-level thinkingOwns development of system requirements, distributes function and performance to components within systems, defines system hardware and software architecture, defines electrical, mechanical, and communication interfaces for components to meet those goalsSupports definition of system hardware and software architecture optimizationCollaborate directly with design, integration, compliance, reliability, product, and service teams for system architecture and design developmentDefines electrical, mechanical, and communication interfaces for componentsDevelops system models comprising cell, battery, power electronics, thermals, and control modelsCaptures requirements in a formal management toolLeads and contribute to cross-functional design reviews for development effortsWorks directly with system test team for system test plan development and validation of system design requirements
RequirementsDegree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or equivalent experienceFundamentals in solar, power electronic or battery technologyExposure to system level architectures comprising electrical, thermal, mechanical and FW/SW sub-systemsFluency in Matlab / SimulinkSpecification definition (performance, functional, dimensional, manufacturing)Ability to generate and interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product designsDetail-oriented personality with effective documentation and reporting skills.Experience solving open-ended engineering problemsMotivated, active collaboratorSolid engineering fundamentals - electrical, mechanical or thermal

$112,000 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
