! Role is

remote - must reside in the United States.Anticipate 15 – 20% travel per year to Costa Mesa, CA office.ABOUT THE ROLEAs Counsel, Privacy & Data Security you will work within a ‘shared services’ model, supporting the Mint Mobile and Ultra Mobile brands. You will manage all aspects of privacy and information security, including compliance with a broad variety of laws and regulations impacting privacy and data security.Your usual day of awesomeness includes:Own and keep under constant review all the Company’s data protection and privacy compliance arrangements, including creating policies and guidelines and centralizing processes. Support compliance programs through partnership and collaboration with business clients and the Business & Legal Affairs team.Provide legal advice to ensure the business activities and operations are compliant with applicable laws (CCPA, CIPA, etc.), regulations (FCC), contractual obligations, and industry best practices. Inform and advise the Company on information security and privacy regulation and its requirements, including advising on federal and state requirements and best practices.Work as part of a cross-functional team delivering information security and privacy counseling to multiple stakeholders across business teams on security and data privacy for products and services, to ensure consistent positions on applicable laws, regulations, and relevant self-regulatory framework. Create and implement policies, training, and other initiatives to advance the privacy program.Act as a subject matter expert for all privacy and data protection matters and advise on legal risks and strategies related to the implementation of privacy and data security obligations and commitments.Advise on online privacy requirements, including privacy policies and consent.Partner with all key business areas to ensure data protection issues are considered at the outset of new projects, products, and initiatives.Monitor the industry landscape to keep visibility on evolutions, trends, and best practices related to privacy and data protection. Update the privacy policies as applicable.Work closely with Technical Operations team to provide legal guidance for response to infrastructure threats and incidents. Also support strategic compliance initiatives to reduce or mitigate enterprise-impacting cyber threat risk.Work collaboratively with outside counsel for tracking new laws to help analyze and communicate the implications of changing U.S. and international laws and regulations to the business.Assist with privacy due diligence and integration of privacy-related activities.Support contract review and negotiation of privacy contract terms.As needed, assist with additional areas (e.g., contract negotiation) and support various one-off projects (e.g., litigation management).WHAT YOU BRINGBar admission in good standing to practice law in the U.S., California or New York is preferred.5+ years of legal experience supporting and advising businesses on data protection and information security-related concerns, ideally with both a law firm and within a telecommunications, MVNA, or media company.Experience building privacy and information security programs and developing compliance processes, practices, and related documentation.Ability to make complex legal issues understandable for various audiences.Knowledge of privacy laws, regulations, standards, and related regimes including but not limited to CCPA, CAN-SPAM, CIPA, state privacy breach notification, other digital marketing and privacy laws.Ability to effectively advise, develop relationships, and work collaboratively with stakeholders within the company.Experience leading with a growth mindset and comfortable working in a company experiencing rapid change and growth.Litigation experience is a plus.WE ARE ULTRA & MINT MOBILEWe connect people to what’s most important in their lives: Easily, affordably and reliably.
