General Description
The Director of Learning and Development manages the staff team focused on education, programming, leadership development, and events. This position also oversees the development, creation, and implementation of membership experience curriculum and resources for collegiate and alumnae members. In partnership with the Collegiate Services team, the Director of Learning and Development assesses data related to membership needs and current higher education trends to determine member programming needs.
Duties Performed
Supervise Learning and Development team members. Serve as coach to ensure project deadlines are met.
Support learning and development initiatives as they relate to the sorority’s strategic plan.
Maintain knowledge specific to learning initiatives and event planning across industry peers.
Partner with Learning Resource Director and Learning and Development staff team to lead content and curriculum development for sorority conferences, including but not limited to ADPi Academy, Summer Summit, and educational programs at Grand Convention.
Research, plan, and implement an evaluation and assessment strategy for educational programs, services, and events provided by Alpha Delta Pi and report on the findings.
Support and contribute to content creation for annual programs and campaigns. Support may include the oversight, updating and development of curriculum and may also include assisting with logistical planning and communication with facilitators, staff, participants, and key stakeholders.
Oversee development of educational curriculum and officer resources for training programs; e-learning; conferences; and workshops to be utilized by collegiate members, alumnae volunteers, and staff members. Coordinate instructor-led educational programs and oversee the selection and training of facilitators for these events. Create train the trainer resources as needed.
Support team members through planning and execution of program and event logistics.
Partner with applicable volunteer committees and programming teams. Provide staff direction to individuals assigned to content or curriculum projects.
Collaborate on special projects related to learning and development initiatives as needed.
Oversee team’s management of the Library (e-learning courses) and troubleshoot technical issues.
Write grants in support of sorority leadership and member experience programming.
Research new technology to utilize for education and training to meet the needs of our members.
Present educational programs at chapters, leadership conferences, and conventions; as well as at regional student leadership conferences and national professional conferences as needed.
Maintain knowledge of current issues facing collegiate and alumnae women; provide resource materials on current issues to staff and volunteers.

Maintain positive public relations within Alpha Delta Pi, among all entities, in contact with other NPC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others.
Represent Alpha Delta Pi within related professional organizations as approved by supervisors.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed and requested. Travel may include Alpha Delta Pi meetings and events and relevant industry workshops or conferences. Some weekend work is required.
Suggested Background and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or a related area required; Master’s Degree in student affairs, higher education, instructional design or a related area preferred.
Minimum of three years’ professional experience (relevant graduate work may be applied).
Knowledge of Alpha Delta Pi preferred.
Knowledge of online learning and learning management systems (LMS).
Experience with writing curriculum and instructional design.
Preferred experience with online learning tools such as Articulate Storyline.
Ability to be creative and consider new ways to deliver content.
Strong facilitation skills and experience facilitating meetings, programs, and workshops.
Experience managing multiple (and sometimes simultaneous) large and small projects from idea inception to rollout, including meeting resource budgets and timelines.
Demonstrated experience adapting written and verbal communication methods to various audiences.
Experience working in a cross-functional team environment or volunteer-based organization preferred.
Potential Travel
Convention or Summer meeting (late June)
Collegiate Officer Leadership Events (January/February)
Conference travel as determined by supervisors (throughout the year)
