General Description

The Senior Director of Strategy and Communications manages the Marketing and Communications and Human Resource Operations and Special Projects teams. This position has management for and performs a wide variety of duties and projects related to the organization’s communications, brand, human resource needs, and new initiatives. In this role the Senior Director serves as a representative and an extension of the organization. This position acts as a sounding board for ideas and oversees the staff direction and collaboration supporting the strategic initiatives identified by Grand Council (board of directors).

Duties Performed

Direct supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Human Resource Operations and Special Projects.

In tandem with the Executive Director, oversee strategic direction of the organization via the mission, vision, and strategic initiatives outlined by Grand Council.

Set the pace and alignment for strategic initiatives in conjunction with day-to-day work across staff teams, including short and long-term planning.

Develop understanding of Greek association and higher education industries and utilize information, data and research in decision making.

Work with Executive Director to develop approach and opportunities to strengthen the staff/volunteer culture.

Works at the Executive Director’s direction to gather materials and to develop responses relating to sensitive and confidential matters.

Assists the Executive Director by drafting correspondence for review and finalization, to include copy-editing, as needed. Ensures Alpha Delta Pi has “one voice.”

Assists Executive Director, Grand Council, and ADPi Properties board with correspondence and projects.

Works with team members to support Grand Council’s quarterly meetings.

Manage and develop protocols for media relations and crisis communications with Executive Director.

Partner with Affinity Licensing to manage the Alpha Delta Pi brand, including management of Alpha Delta Pi’s trademarks and intellectual property.

Serves as the communication liaison with the National Panhellenic Conference.

Participates in annual budget preparation.

Serve as a partner with volunteers, International Officers, and all members of Alpha Delta Pi.

Maintain positive public relations within Alpha Delta Pi, among all entities, in contact with other NPC and NIC groups, university officials, vendors and others.

Represent Alpha Delta Pi within related professional organizations as approved by supervisors.

Willingness and ability to travel as needed and requested. Travel may include Alpha Delta Pi meetings and events and relevant industry workshops or conferences. Some weekend work is required.

Suggested Background and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree, communications, business, or marketing-related discipline preferred.

Minimum of seven years’ professional experience.

Knowledge of Alpha Delta Pi preferred.

Demonstrated project management experience in a professional environment.

Experience managing people preferred.

Experience compiling, analyzing, and utilizing data.

Experience working in a cross-functional team environment or volunteer-based organization preferred.

Experience managing multiple (e.g. simultaneous) large and small projects from idea inception to rollout, including meeting resource budgets and timelines.

Strong analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, sound judgement, and decision-making ability.

Potential Travel

Convention or Summer meeting (late June)

Collegiate Officer Leadership Events if needed (January/February)

Conference travel as determined by supervisors (throughout the year)

Employment Location

Alpha Delta Pi’s Executive Office in Atlanta, GA preferred; remote work may be considered. Remote work is not eligible in the following states: CA, NY, NJ, HI, AK. Atlanta-based staff participate in a hybrid work schedule that may be granted after the first 90 days of employment. Alpha Delta Pi reserves the right to change work status with notice to employee.
