We seek candidates in the broad areas of design and integrated building design to teach architectural design studios and lecture and seminar courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.General Statement: We seek faculty to foster innovation in applied design research for the built environment. Candidates are expected to have the ability to teach upper-level capstone and comprehensive design studios and have a specialty in at least one of the following areas: construction techniques/ materials science/building technology; computation; digital technology and fabrication; environmental systems; or practice. Candidates must have the ability to advance teaching and research in innovative design that integrates social, environmental, and technical considerations. Candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an active program of scholarly and creative work within the discipline.Duties and Responsibilities

We hope to attract applicants who can teach in a diverse University community and have demonstrated ability in helping students from diverse backgrounds to succeed.Teach on-campus in person.Advise, evaluate, and assist students.Participate in faculty meetings and service assignments.Meet regularly with, collaborating with, and supporting multi-section teaching and learning objectives.Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

A terminal degree in architecture (MArch, DArch, or PhD) or a related field (MA, MS or PhD).Professional architectural licensure (NCARB recognized). Candidates with demonstrated progress toward registration will be considered. However, completion of registration is required before application for tenure.Note: In exceptional circumstances, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the appointment.Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Four or more years of professional practice in design.Three or more years of professional teaching experience in higher education.Demonstrated expertise in architectural design.Scholarship in the field of design.The ability to teach advanced design studio (4th year and graduate level), lecture, and seminar courses.The Successful Candidate Will

Engage with undergraduate and graduate students while providing mentorship to a diverse student body.Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty and staff.Possess excellent written, graphic, and oral communication skills.Be skilled in utilizing innovative pedagogy that engages students in the learning process.Have the potential to provide leadership and to assume responsibility for organizational and program activities.Have dedication to supporting and enhancing Montana State University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
