We are looking for a motivated professional who is excited to join a dynamic and diverse team and is deeply committed to the organization’s mission and values of collaboration, transparency, and service.About the RoleAs an Associate on the Research team, you will help us deliver on our ambitious agenda by collecting and analyzing evidence to support research projects and helping to develop innovative tools and resources for energy efficiency practitioners. You will work from CLASP’s Washington, DC, office and will work collaboratively with CLASP team members and partners around the world to create quality outputs such as reports, articles, and presentations that advance our global portfolio of appliance energy efficiency programs. In consultation with others on the Research team, you will identify and explore new project ideas that maximize CLASP’s impact for people and planet.In this role you will be exposed to a wide range of people and issues in the climate and energy sectors, as well as the internal infrastructure and operations of a global NGO. The successful candidate will develop and grow a broad set of professional and technical skills, honing them to the level of excellence in a demanding and fast-paced environment. You will work with, learn from, and grow alongside a high-performing and diverse team in which everyone is committed to the development of themselves and others.Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Implement research projects
Carry out research projects, including determining what data are needed; identifying credible sources; collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; and documenting your findings.Shepherd reports and articles through the development process for internal use and external publication, including researching, drafting, proofreading, formatting, and editing documents in partnership with the Communications and Programs teams according to organization-wide Standard Operating Procedures.Collaborate with the Research Manager, Senior Director of Research and consultants to ensure projects adhere to realistic timelines, stay within budget, and meet CLASP’s quality standards.Work with CLASP’s Communications Team to develop and share compelling stories of program success, research outcomes, lessons learned, etc.Work with the Research Team to evaluate progress, quantify impact, and identify innovative strategies that achieve desired outcomes at speed and scale.Seek to develop productive partnerships with individual researchers and institutions to further CLASP’s strategic objectives.Represent CLASP at internal and external events, including preparing and presenting research to diverse audiences.
Support development of analytical tools
Contribute to the development of new analytical tools and features, including researching potential new data sources and extracting useful data from them. Clearly document sources, assumptions, limitations, and methods so results can be evaluated and reproduced.Draft blog posts, factsheets, and other externally facing documents and communications to promote CLASP’s suite of analytical tools in partnership with the Communications Team.
Contribute to the development of new programs
Support the Research Manager and Senior Director of Research to scope, develop, and roll out programs and partnerships that advance CLASP’s mission to make appliances as planet-neutral and people-positive as possible.Research new sources of program funding and contribute to business development initiatives to grow program revenue.
