Accounting AssociateThe Accounting Associate maintains financial records and assists with general day-to-day tasks within the department. The Associate is primarily responsible for computing, classifying, and recording expenditures and revenue data to keep the company’s financial records complete. The Associate performs a variety of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. General duties include bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.Responsibilities:General Accounting
Use QuickBooks Online and Buildertrend to record, store, and analyze financial information.Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using QuickBooks and Excel.Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.Code documents according to company procedures.Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.Reconcile records of bank transactions.Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
Accounts Payable/Receivable
Prepare bank deposits by compiling data from cashiers, verifying and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.Calculate, prepare, and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures.Calculate and prepare checks for utilities, taxes, and other payments.Update and maintain records of expenditures.Send out payments for company credit cards.Respond to vendor invoices.Ensure that all payments are made in accordance with company policy.Ensure that all payments are sent on time.Resolve payment discrepancies and disputes on behalf of the company.Prepare and mail invoices to customers.Post payments to customer accounts.Organize and file deposit receipts as invoices are paid.
Reporting
Assist Controller in the preparation of the corporate annual report and other periodic reports.Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
Other duties as assigned.Requirements:Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree (Accounting or Business Administration preferred) or equivalent relevant business experience.Previous experience in the construction industry is a plus.
Technical Requirements
Excellent communication & customer service skills.Experience using QuickBooks.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
