Copy Editor
to join us on a permanent basis focusing on our health care provider–authored journals like
Cutis , our leading dermatology publication.
If you have an eagle eye for detail, enjoy collaborating with top healthcare professionals, and want to make an impact across both print and digital platforms, this role is for you!
What you’ll be doing:
Content Creation:
Manage the peer-review process, collaborate with authors, and edit articles to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to journal standards (with a focus on AMA style). You’ll also provide creative input on titles, headlines, and visual elements.
Quality Control:
Ensure every piece of content is polished to perfection. You’ll edit, proofread, fact-check, and format articles to meet high editorial standards. Communicate directly with authors to clarify details and finalize submissions.
Digital Integration:
Help grow our digital footprint by incorporating editorial content into websites, newsletters, and social media. You’ll use analytics to drive smart content decisions and expand our reach.
Production Support:
From trafficking materials to implementing corrections, you’ll manage the workflow and ensure all content meets deadlines and business objectives.
Collaborative Leadership:
Work closely with columnists and contributors, prioritize tasks across multiple publications, and ensure that everyone delivers on time.
Technical Expertise:
Utilize industry-standard tools like MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, InCopy/InDesign, and content management systems. Database management experience (Editorial Manager) is a plus.
What You’ll need to bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s in English, journalism, communications, or related fields (background in biology, public health, or health-related fields).
Experience:
Ideally 5+ years in medical publishing, healthcare communications, or digital journalism. (Non-medical publishing with an understanding of healthcare and medicine is also welcome!)
Skills:
Mastery of editing and proofreading technical content, digital and web proficiency, knowledge of AMA style (a plus), and superb organization and time-management skills to meet tight deadlines.
