The
Senior Editor
works with the rest of the editorial team to conceptualize, produce, and edit high-quality content for CancerNetwork.com, a brand that provides multidisciplinary oncology professionals with practical and timely clinical information necessary to deliver the highest level of patient care. This editor would also help contribute content to ONCOLOGY, a peer-reviewed medical journal, as well as its monthly print supplements. The individual in this role will also contribute to other operational and editorial tasks for CancerNetwork.com.
Responsibilities :
Regularly collaborate with editorial team to establish editorial strategy and identify content needs and target key opinion leaders to generate topics for daily web publishing, editorial calendars, and e-newsletter distribution.Identify breaking and practice-changing oncology news relevant to physicians.Work with editorial team to develop compelling content for oncology professionals, including special features, website highlights, video interviews, podcasts, and conference coverage.Write, proofread, and edit articles for compliance with policies, AMA style, and tone.Establish relationships with key opinion leaders and institutions in oncology to obtain original material for publication.Cover news and/or conduct video interviews with physicians at oncology conferences.Travel (~10%) to attend professional conferences and live events.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in life sciences communications, journalism, or a related field3+ years of progressive professional experience and/or relevant medical background with strong written and verbal communication skills.An understanding of the oncology discipline, as well as American Medical Association style, a plus.Ability to translate industry understanding into relevant, practical content geared toward professional physician audience and comfortable interviewing experts in the field.Demonstrated creativity and innovation in content planning and execution.Excellent scheduling and organizational skills with a sharp attention to detail.Thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team.Strong ability to delegate.Advanced knowledge in the production of all types of editorial (digital and print).Desire to mentor coach junior/contributing staff.Familiarity and ease with content management and publishing systems, medical literature databases (PubMed etc.) and social media; knowledge of Google analytics and SEO strategies a plus.Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite.CMS experience a plus.
