Senior Director of MAPRI , the

Senior Research Accountant

will provide support to MAPRI for the maintenance and reporting of the General Accounting Subledger. You will be responsible for the accounts receivable process, the monthly close process with MAPRI and MAPMG, account reconciliations, grant research accounting, reporting and analysis, and Research staff as needed, preparing monthly reports and supporting needs of the operations of MAPRI. You can expect to: Participate in the month-end close process – calculate and record entries in the general ledger; review and validate source data for all journal entries. Prepare and review journal entries in a timely manner for the Research Accountant Manager to review. Identify account trends and perform month-end variance analysis. Ensure general ledger and sub ledger are reconciled and reconciling items are resolved. Create internal financial reports (operations, trial balance, and balance sheet) for reporting and review purposes. Partner with external auditors during audit periods. What is required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Accounting or Business Administration required; Master’s Degree or CPA in progress preferred. Minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience. Strong interpersonal, written communication, problem solving, and analytical skills. Ability to manage highly delicate and controversial issues while maintaining confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaboration. Must be able to commute to Rockville, MD on an as-needed basis. Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment. Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment. The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $79,370.16 to $99,212.70 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors.
