Who We're Looking ForWe are seeing a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. This is a pivotal role as you will be the first DevOps hire at Pearl, responsible for maintaining and optimizing our infrastructure. This position will help lay the groundwork for our future team growth. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure our systems are robust, scalable, and efficient.
Maintain and manage our AWS EKS cluster to ensure high availability and performance
Set up and manage a new Citus Sharding Cluster, optimizing it for our specific needs
Implement and maintain dashboards and reports for the executive team to monitor infrastructure health
Develop and enforce internal policies and best practices for infrastructure management and security
Collaborate with the engineering team to support our microservice architecture
Provide hands-on technical expertise and leadership, guiding the team through complex technical challenges
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to convey ideas and solutions clearly
What You'll Need to Succeed
8+ years of experience in a DevOps or related role
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Experience in a startup and/or high growth business preferred
Additional certifications in AWS or DevOps Methodologies a plus
Proven track record of managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure at scale
Extensive experience with AWS infrastructure, including EKS, Lambda, SQS, MSK, RDS, EC2, and S3
Strong experience in setting up and managing Citus Sharding Clusters
Proficiency in maintaining PostgreSQL databases and ensuring their performance and reliability
Deep understanding of microservice architecture and its implementation in a cloud environment
Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical systems
Strong communication skills, capable of articulating ideas and solutions to diverse audiences
Ability to hit the ground running, demonstrating proactivity and independence in managing tasks
Leadership qualities with a vision for building and scaling a DevOps team
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to work closely with cross-functional teams
