The incumbent performs a variety of legal functions on cases which are often factually complex or of such a nature that no clear precedents apply. Assignments may include: (1) conducting discovery, including drafting Letters of Inquiry and subpoenas, reviewing documents; (2) developing strategies for resolving compliance issues or cases; (3) advising the Bureau Chief and other senior FCC staff about the appropriate handling of cases involving rule violations related to fraud of federal funds; and (4) preparing and presenting findings, conclusions and recommendation regarding legal, investigatory, or policy issues, both orally and in written documents of varying length and complexity; (5) reviewing and resolving both formal and informal complaints, conducting investigations and formal hearings, ordering corrective action and other means available to ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations.

Specialized ExperienceGS-12In order to be deemed as qualified applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of professional law experience, including one year of specialized experience which must be equivalent to at least the GS-11 in the Federal service.
