The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a HR Personnel Manager to join their team.The HR Personnel Manager in the School of Nursing provides direct services to faculty and administrative staff regarding AHR systems, processes, policies, and other related operations. This position is responsible for maintaining and monitoring business processes and systems related to the Academic Personnel employment lifecycle including search/recruitment of new faculty, hiring/onboarding, faculty payroll and other compensation management, leaves of absence, termination/retirement, and other areas, as assigned. In addition to routine maintenance and oversight of records, systems, and processes, this position requires flexibility and creativity to solve unique and unpredictable issues in a timely and professional manner.The HR Personnel Manager also supports the Assistant Director of Human Resources with the Promotion and Tenure process, AHR trainings, and other projects as assigned. The HR Personnel Manager serves as the central SoN point of contact for partners in central offices of Human Resources, Benefits, Compensation, etc.Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, this position will operate as a member of a small and high-performing team, dedicated to positively supporting the employment lifecycle of SoN’s faculty and academic personnel.Position Responsibilities
Academic HR Operations, Policy, & Payment Specialist (60%):Provide coaching, education, and support to school administrators on Workday system and business processes related to all departmental roles involving academic personnel.Assist school users with questions and/or reviewing materials to problem-solve and determine appropriate Workday process for academic personnel actions.Identify, research, and recommend solutions for user inquiries regarding Workday functionality.Serve as liaison between school Workday users and ISC/HR (central) staff, including by communicating business process or policy changes from central offices to the school administrators.Advise units regarding payroll and additional compensation processing, including required out-of-system approvals and/or pre-approvals, as required.Maintain records of salary changes and/or additional compensation.Provide notice of routine salary changes, including annual appointment letters each Autumn Quarter.Academic HR PolicyMaintain library of AHR policies and provide appropriate references, as needed.Advise school administrators on current AHR policies and procedures including part-time and/or temporary appointments, searches, hiring/termination, leaves of absence, sabbaticals, annual merit reviews, excess compensation, and routine reappointments.Identify and propose process improvement opportunities to deliver enhanced customer service to academic units and to ensure internal and external deadlines are met.Support the Director and Assistant Director of Human Resources.Provide support of annual processes including faculty searches/postings, promotion/tenure, reappointment reviews, sabbatical applications/review and reporting, faculty merit/unit adjustments, and other areas as assigned.FC and PT Committee Support (30%):Stay knowledgeable on SoN, Academic HR, and UW Faculty Code requirements and practices for SoN Promotion and Tenure and Faculty Council Committee actions.Advise the committee/committee chairs about required timelines and documentation required.Serve as the first-level resource to the SoN Promotion and Tenure Committee and SoN Faculty Council Committee and their respective Committee Chairs.Maintain meeting schedules and attend all meetings. Prepare agendas and materials as needed. Disseminate concise and timely agendas and minutes for faculty department meetings.Develop packets of faculty materials for reviewing promotions and tenure.Run reports and maintain faculty roster, database, and Workday system information for faculty voting eligibility.Other HR Operations Support/Back-Up (10%):At the direction of both the SoN HRPS Director and Assistant Director, this position will provide HR expertise and support to include:Process staff and academic student employee recruitments and hires as needed.Serve as an approver for HR transactions and system authorizations as assigned.Review and disseminate SoN HR tickets to appropriate stakeholders.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two to three years of human resources or similar administrative experience working in an academic or administrative unit of a post-secondary institution.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.Additional Qualifications
Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.Highly organized, and able to work and maintain composure under pressure.Ability to prioritize competing demands to successfully meet internal and external deadlines and project milestones.Exemplary customer service skills including flexibility and problem-solving.Exceptional interpersonal skills to form and maintain positive relationships within a highly complex and collaborative work environment.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a work and/or educational environment, with the proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and SharePoint.Desired Qualifications
