Role SummaryBring your talent and experience to the Splunk docs team! Join a supportive and collaborative team of writers, editors, and information experience specialists dedicated to building high-quality content for customers who use Splunk software. As a Senior DITA Information Architect, you will support our technical writing team by designing and implementing structured content systems using DITA XML. You will be responsible for organizing, tagging, and managing complex documentation, ensuring scalability, consistency, and reusability of content across multiple products and platforms. Your expertise will help streamline the authoring process and improve the overall quality of the documentation for both internal teams and end users.
In this role, you will:
Have deep expertise in DITA XML and know how to structure, model, and manage content for large-scale documentation projects.
Be passionate about creating efficient and scalable content architecture that improves the authoring process and enhances the user experience.
Understand the needs of technical writers and collaborate closely to support content organization, taxonomy, and metadata management.
Enjoy working in a collaborative environment with writers, developers, and product teams to ensure that the content structure aligns with business and user needs.
Have a proactive mindset for identifying ways to improve content creation workflows, authoring efficiency, and system scalability.
Be thorough and ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in how content is created, stored, and maintained.
Must-have Qualifications
8+ years of related experience in driving information architecture for structured authoring, such as knowledge and experience with DITA XML, including content modeling, specialization, and reuse strategies.
Experience implementing or maturing component content management systems (CCMS), such as Heretto, and advanced knowledge of content architecture, standards, and governance.
Proficiency working with structured content tools and environments, such as oXygen XML Editor or similar XML authoring tools. Experience in DITA Open Toolkit plugin development and XSLT, or similar programming languages is preferred but not required.
Expert level understanding of content classification, metadata tagging, and taxonomy development to improve content discoverability for complex documentation sets.
Familiarity with writing for localization, including integration and processes for localization of technical content.
Demonstrable ability to collaborate closely with technical writers, editors, and other global stakeholders to deliver structured content that meets both user and business requirements.
Advanced knowledge of enterprise-level technical writing processes and data-driven content strategies for software documentation.

Base Pay RangeSF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro AreaBase Pay Range: $159,200.00 - 218,900.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and MassachusettsBase Pay Range: $143,280.00 - 197,010.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.Base Pay Range: $127,360.00 - 175,120.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate.
In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
