What will you be doing?

Barclays Services Corp. seeks AVP, Senior Software Developer in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):

On behalf of a global financial services organization, develop and modify computer applications software for the Investment Bank’s (IB) Middle Office IT team supporting United States, Europe and Asia markets.

Gather requirements from Global Equity Middle Office Operations, conduct development, system testing, manage testing and implementing in production for various projects in Equities Middle Office Technology.

Develop and enhance Java server and client-side components for strategic Middle Office trading platform and migrate multiple Middle Office Legacy applications into platform.

Build and develop the platform based on an SOA architecture using Java & J2EE implementations.

Use Spring Framework, Hibernate, Java Persistence API (JPA) for Platform development. Use Java Messaging Service (JMS) and Solace Messaging for communication and Complex event processing (CEP) for tracing and monitoring events.

Coordinate with business analysts and operations to understand the new requirements for Cash Equities business.

Follow development processes utilizing Agile/Scrum and test-driven development principles.

Use development toolsets such as Maven, Git, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, TeamCity, Sonar.

Work closely with testing and support teams throughout all project phases.

Assist application support teams to investigate production issues and perform improvements to make the platform stable, maintainable and resilient.

Act as subject matter expert in Global Equities Booking and Confirmation.

10% Domestic and International travel required.

Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.

Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.

Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.

Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.

Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.

Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
