What will you be doing?Barclays Services LLC seeks Software Developer in Whippany, NJ (multiple positions available):
On behalf of a global financial services organization, design, build, and develop Data Warehouse software applications, including unit testing and documentation, in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and procedures.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis and employ Agile techniques such as task estimation, test automation, deployment automation and continuous integration to enhance overall execution speed and product quality.
Coordinate and participate in requirement analysis meetings with application stakeholders to address technical questions, review system capabilities, and finalize application requirements.
Prepare Business Requirements documents and Functional Specifications documents based on finalized requirements.
Prepare Technical Design Documents (TDDs) to depict data flow for applications and prepare detailed design documents that include all coding components to be developed based on requirements.
Build technically sound Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) jobs using Ab Initio to perform software ingestion, storage, and presentation of enterprise data, taking into account data storage strategies, data access, and security.
Translate file layout specifications using Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code (EBCDIC), American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII), X9, JSON, Excel, and fixed-length, variable-length, and delimited data formats.
Perform coding tasks including developing ETL mapping and workflows, developing UNIX shell scripts, developing database scripts to create tables and data views, and creating jobs as well as scheduling job streams using Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS).
Execute test scripts to validate code. Migrate and replace SAS ETL processes with Ab Initio graphs.
Analyze and resolve data lineage issues using the AbInitio Metadata Hub. Migrate data from Hadoop or between databases using Ab Initio.
Analyze and fix defects with developed code after testing to meet proposed Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
Monitor, support, and validate code once implemented and deployed to production.
Prepare detailed documentation of proper code flow.
Collaborate with data modelers and contribute to physical data models.
Transition applications and related artifacts to the Run-The-Bank (RTB) team to enable them to provide on-call support.
Provide technical support to business analysts and project managers as well as coaching to less experienced staff across geographically dispersed teams.

Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
