What will you be doing?Barclays Services LLC seeks Data Platform Engineer in Whippany, New Jersey (multiple positions).

Defrag very large database files to recover dedicated storage space and ensure storage constraints and performance continue to operate at peak levels.

Utilize scripts, DBCA, and RAC with Oracle ASM administration to install, configure and manage all databases.

Administer Oracle RAC databases and Oracle ASM volumes, monitor database performance and capacity, and configure Oracle Enterprise Manager to automate monitoring and administration tasks.

Engage developers to create and support extract, transform, and load (ETL) functions, migrate databases to new infrastructure components using Golden Gate and Veridata utilities as well as RMAN Duplicate and Data Pump tools.

Work with Data Modelers and Data Architects to review and deploy logical and physical data models in the databases.

Utilize database tools such as TOAD, OEM, SQL Developer and SQL Loader to define, analyze and design applications to achieve ETL functionalities.

Troubleshooting problems regarding database and application tools.

Create and maintain all databases for development, testing and production usage, planning and implementing backup and recovery strategies.

Providing technical support to application development teams.

May telecommute.

Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

Accountabilities

Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.

Design and implementation of data warehouses and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.

Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.

Collaboration with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.
