To learn more, visit www.aacu.org .The American Association of Colleges and Universities is seeking an experienced Associate Director of VE COIL Initiatives. This role is an opportunity for a dynamic professional with a passion for project management, agile leadership, and global education. The Associate Director will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and evaluating AAC&U’s Virtual Exchange/Collaborative Online International Learning (VE/COIL) Initiative. Reporting to the Director of Innovative Global Education Initiatives, the Associate Director will provide strategic oversight to ensure project execution. The Associate Director will lead cross-functional teams, meeting deadlines, and providing high-quality deliverables. Additionally, the Associate Director will support stakeholders across various institutions and conduct qualitative and quantitative research are key.Requirements:

Project ManagementTake ownership of project goals, driving proactive problem-solving and timely execution to meet all deadlines.Oversee project timelines, monitor progress, and innovatively develop project deliverables, such as customized training materials and resources.Manage and integrate professional development system platforms (Google Workspace), technical testing, troubleshooting, and overseeing the issuance of digital credentials (Accredible platform) for institutional participants.Institute Sessions and MeetingsPrepare and develop agendas and materials for institute sessions.Represent AAC&U in technical meetings with project sponsors and partners, driving progress on project milestones and providing strategic input on the direction and implementation of VE/COIL programs.Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure aligned expectations and clear communication.Professional Development and SupportCo-Facilitate VE/COIL Projects and Support FacultyProvide mentorship and support for faculty instructors in collaboration with the Director and project partners.Facilitate issue resolution and enhance team productivity among project participants.Develop solutions to ensure overall participation, productivity, quality, and adherence to timelines.Use iterative processes to refine strategies and ensure the delivery of high-quality outputs.Serve as the primary research assistant to the Director, supporting all phases of research design, data collection, and analysis for VE/COIL initiatives.Assist in developing research methodologies for assessing the impact of VE/COIL on student learning outcomes, faculty development, and institutional transformation.Lead mixed-methods data collection by administering surveys and conducting interviews and focus groups, utilizing adaptive research techniques in response to changing project requirements and data accessibility.Ensure the ethical collection and handling of sensitive information, adhering to IRB protocols and safeguarding participant privacy.Analyze data to inform evidence-based recommendations on VE/COIL outcomes and contribute to research publications and reports.Program-Level and Institutional Evaluation

Support the Director in designing and implementing pre/post assessments for VE/COIL projects using tools such as the AAC&U VALUE Rubrics, BEVI, and Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).Collaborate with partner institutions to ensure consistent assessment practices and facilitate data-driven recommendations for improving VE/COIL programming.Conduct research to evaluate the impact of VE/COIL on institutional structures, including international partnerships, teaching strategies, and curriculum internationalization.Analyze shifts in faculty engagement, skills, and attitudes using baseline and follow-up surveys.Compile and report findings from data analysis to project stakeholderFacilitate the collection and analysis of student learning data, focusing on key outcomes such as intercultural competence, language proficiency, and global collaboration skills.Provide information on validated tools to assess learning and assist faculty in creating rubrics, surveys, and other measures to evaluate student success.Communication and Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with GC4 staff and global partners to ensure successful project execution and align project deliverables with institutional goals through proactive communication.Maintain open communication channels with project partners to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure regular reporting to the Director and key stakeholders, aligning project objectives with strategic goals.Provide written reports to project sponsors and partners, ensuring transparency and accountability.Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience managing multilateral projects, with demonstrated success in coordinating complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.Basic understanding of Virtual Exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning (VE/COIL) PreferredExperience working in or with the higher education sector (in areas that involve cross-institutional collaboration or project execution).Proven organizational and project management skillsAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills (ability to engage stakeholders across various contexts).Experience using project management tools and platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Asana, or similar)Excellent oral and written communication skills (ability to tailor content for diverse audiences).Willingness to travel to AAC&U’s headquarters in Washington, DC, and other locations as neededThis role is based is a hybrid position. A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $90,000-100,000. The position is full-time and based in Washington, DC. Excellent benefits.
