We are seeking a skilled WebSphere/Java Portal Developer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications using IBM WebSphere Portal and Java technologies. This role involves working closely with business stakeholders, architects, and other developers to build scalable, secure, and efficient web-based applications that meet business needs.Responsibilities
Application Development:Design, develop, and maintain enterprise web applications using IBM WebSphere Portal, Java/J2EE, and related technologies.Implement portal components including themes, skins, portlets, and back-end integration using WebSphere Portal development tools.Develop custom Java portlets using JSR 168/286 standards and integrate them into the WebSphere Portal framework.System Integration:Integrate WebSphere Portal applications with back-end systems, databases, and third-party services.Implement Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions and configure security policies for portal applications.Work with RESTful and SOAP-based web services to ensure data exchange and system integration.Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to understand functional and technical requirements.Translate business requirements into technical designs and develop solutions that meet user needs and improve business processes.Participate in technical discussions and provide input on architectural decisions.Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting:Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks, writing efficient code, and improving database queries.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WebSphere Portal and Java applications.Monitor and maintain the stability, security, and performance of portal applications in production environments.Testing & Quality Assurance:Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing to ensure application functionality and performance.Follow best practices for software development, including code reviews, version control, and documentation.Documentation & Support:Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture, design documents, and user guides.Provide ongoing support and maintenance for portal applications, addressing bug fixes and implementing new features as needed.Continuous Improvement:Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in WebSphere Portal, Java, and related technologies.Explore new tools, frameworks, and practices to improve application performance, scalability, and user experience.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.3+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development.2+ years of experience developing applications using IBM WebSphere Portal (version 8.x or higher preferred).Proficiency with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and Struts.Experience with portal standards (JSR 168/286) and portlet development.Strong understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.Experience with web services (REST, SOAP), databases (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2), and application servers.Familiarity with portal security, SSO solutions, and LDAP integration.Experience with version control systems such as Git, SVN, or similar tools.$50 - $62 an hour#J-18808-Ljbffr
