The candidate will plan and execute analytical studies and demonstrate appropriate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with cross-functional departments. The candidate will lead small studies with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as lead others to resolve project-related issues.This position is part of Assay R&D and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite). At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Collaboratively solve complex problems that have broad impact on Cepheid business by applying problem-solving skills and strategies for the verification of IVD tests on the GeneXpert platform.Effectively manage experiments with shifting priorities and meet due dates.Maintain detailed experimental records, and document results in electronic laboratory notebooks and technical reports to meet the QSR Design Control, as well as other international standards such as ISO compliance and GLP/GMP requirements.Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.Lead others to take a new perspective using existing solutions to resolve project-related issues.The essential requirements of the job include:Implement verification and validation SOPs and write technical reports.Perform rigorous analytical studies required to demonstrate technical feasibility and design verification studies.Handle clinical samples and assist in microbiology work on BSL-1 and BSL-2 organisms if needed.Analyze data using statistical tools such as Microsoft Excel or Minitab; maintain detailed experimental records and document results in a technical report in a laboratory notebook and present data at internal technical meetings.Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biology, and Genetics, or related field, with 8+ years of relevant industry experience OR Master’s degree in the same field with 6+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in the same field with 3+ years of related work experience.It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:GeneXpert platform.Handling human clinical specimens and performing aseptic microbiology work.Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 25 lbs.Ability to work in a laboratory environment wearing personal protective equipment including but not limited to lab coats, goggles, gloves, masks, etc. for extended periods.Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
