Our associates are involved in every stage of molecular diagnostics, from ideation to development and delivery of testing advancements that improve patient outcomes across a range of settings.The Scientist II is primarily a bench level job focusing on real time PCR and RT-PCR assay and product development in an FDA-QSR and ISO9001 compliant organization. The candidate will plan and execute laboratory research, demonstrate appropriate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and collaboration with cross-functional departments.In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Design, setup and execute laboratory experiments including data collection, summary, and critical analysis.The essential requirements of the job include:Bachelor’s degree in field with 2+ years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in field with experience.Proficiency in PCR, qPCR and RT-qPCR. In-depth knowledge of nucleic acid purification, and primer and probe design for real-time PCR/RT-PCR.Experience in handling microbiological and clinical specimens, and working in a BSL-2 environment. Knowledge of biological and chemical safety.Ability to work collaboratively to solve complex problems including optimization of multiplexed real-time quantitative PCR assays and/or developing new assays and/or test methods/procedures.Proficiency with standard Microsoft computer programs and experience with statistical analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or JMP.It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:Knowledge of product development lifecycle process and design control.Designing oligos for microorganism detection with experience/knowledge of melt probes designs.Cepheid, a Danaher operating company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
