We have an immediate opening for a Vice President, Controller. The position will be based out of the Brooklyn Heights, OH location. The successful candidate will direct and provide oversight to the corporation for the overall accounting policies of the company including accounting practices, external financial reporting, risk assessment, and strategic alliances for the successful transformation of global integration of financial business practices.
Specific Responsibilities:
Direct the overall company accounting and budget management activities to ensure integration and continuous improvement of accounting practices.
Oversee financial practice management of domestic and foreign operations, including developing financial and budget policies and procedures to fulfill best practices.
Direct the fulfillment of the company’s obligations under strategic alliances associated with sustaining business process integration goals and objectives.
Recommend metrics for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments in support of accounting best practices benchmarks.
Direct the timely and accurate analysis, assessment, and delivery of essential financial information for reporting operating results against budget and/or spending guidelines.
Direct and coordinate debt financing and debt service payments with external agencies.
Direct the preparation of official company financial reports and consolidated financial statements. Ensure compliance with all external reporting requirements.
Collaborate with global company management to develop and report on business plans for the company. Serve on planning and policy-making management committees.
Establish and implement short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the overall accounting function.
Design, establish, and maintain an effective organizational structure and staffing to assist in the accomplishment of the financial organization’s goals and objectives.
Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues.
Direct financial audits, risk assessments, and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
Qualifications:
Formal education in accounting required including current CPA or equivalent accounting certifications.
Business acumen required to direct the global business controller function.
10+ years relevant experience in international accounting and financial business practice management.
7 to 10 years of preferred technical foundation in audit practices, accounting principles, and business risk management and risk assessment.
Thorough understanding of accounting and financial management information requirements for publicly-held corporations.
Significant relevant global business experience in directing the accounting, budget spending, and implementation of cost control practices and procedures, and the origination and completion of financial analysis in accordance with global accounting practices and reports.
Extensive experience in analysis, interpretation, and generation of financial data resulting in proactive implementation of recommended changes to improve systems and financial performance.
Ability to interpret and apply complex legal and financial instruments and terms to accounting policies and practices, and resolve complex issues where conflicting practices and/or policies exist between global accounting standards.
Capabilities in the delivery of successful outcomes through substantial relevant experience in large project management.
Leadership and related core competencies to produce constructive and comprehensive oral and written communications for all audiences within the organization including Audit, Finance, and Governance Committees affiliated with the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Proven capability to successfully and actively participate as a member of one or more collaborative global work teams within a cross-national, cross-cultural environment.
Understanding of the technological capabilities available to implement continuous improvement and enhanced efficiencies in accounting best practices.
Ability to develop and apply measurements and metrics to drive successful results in integrated accounting practices.
Capacity to develop direct reports and others for deepening the core competencies and for building the required bench-strength of the global accounting role within the corporation for enhancing performance of the overall accounting function.
Familiarity with large global Financial Accounting packages, including JD Edwards One World and/or World Solutions, Financial Reporting and Electronic Web-based applications, AS400, ASP, Data Warehousing, and other technology-based financial applications used for continuous improvement of timely and accurate financial reporting and disclosures for enhancing the financial performance of the corporation.

Experience in US-based corporations
Ability to communicate in alternative languages to that of English including French, Spanish, or others relative to EU or other governing foreign accounting authorities.
