Summary:The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with applicable regulations, and alignment with organizational objectives. The Manager supports financial reporting, risk management, and policy development within the accounting team. The Manager should possess knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and have an understanding of not-for-profit tax reporting.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the general ledger and its maintenance, accuracy of reporting and making necessary improvements to align with best practices and the organizational needs.
Responsible for maintaining the close schedule (monthly and year-end) and effectively coordinating/executing the close processes resulting in high communication, clear accountability, and consistent/reliable results.
Oversees monthly and annual financial reporting, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable financial regulations.
Establishes and monitors internal controls, including reconciliation processes and risk management practices, to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial data integrity.
Provides financial insights and timely information to support decision-making by senior management. Assists the Director of Accounting in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
Leads and engages the accounting team, fostering a positive work environment. Develops goals and priorities with employees, provides coaching, training, and feedback, and ensures team members have the tools necessary for success.
Supports internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit recommendations. Assists in maintaining compliance with tax-exempt organization requirements and other applicable regulations.
Drives process improvements through the use of automated systems and technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting functions. Supports efforts to align financial processes with organizational objectives.
Oversees treasury management processes ensuring effective controls, including working with primary financial institution to ensure adequate fraud controls are in place aligning with treasury best practices.
Assists with the annual budgeting process as it relates to accounting functions such as depreciation, interest expense, and other key accounts driven by accounting processes.
Assists the Director of Accounting Services with special assignments as needed.
Ensures that established financial policies, rules, regulations, and agreements within the Manager's department and responsibility are followed. Ensures that all department processes and procedures are appropriately documented and complied with.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Non-supervisory - Five (5) years professional work experience in Accounting. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
