Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will provide strategic leadership in financial management, budget development, and resource allocation. This role is critical to advancing the university's mission by fostering a transparent and flexible budget process that aligns with institutional priorities. The Director will ensure financial sustainability and support informed decision-making through robust financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of a transparent budgeting model and process that incorporates all revenue streams, including tuition, gifts, grants, auxiliaries, and state appropriations.
Develop multi-year financial models to support long-range institutional planning.
Align budgetary processes with the university's mission and strategic initiatives, driving data-informed resource allocation decisions.
Oversee the development of the annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring that budget proposals align with the institution's priorities.
Monitor and adjust budget performance throughout the fiscal year, providing timely forecasts and identifying areas for financial efficiency.
Ensure the integration of capital planning with operational budgeting to align both long-term and short-term financial goals.
Lead in-depth financial analysis of key revenue and expense drivers, using data to inform decision-making at all levels.
Develop comprehensive financial reports that provide insight into institutional performance, trends, and potential challenges.
Collaborate with institutional research and other departments to generate accurate data and reports on financial and operational matters.
Assist with various reports and surveys to federal, state, and private entities on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis.
Strong leadership skills with experience building and leading high-performing teams.
Advanced skills in financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting.
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
CPA, CFA, or CGFM certifications.
Experience with financial planning software and ERP systems commonly used in higher education.
Experience with financial management in public R1 research universities and knowledge of state and federal regulations governing higher education finances.

$135,000-$175,000
