Our Mission: ACE Amandla Charter High School seeks to prepare students academically and socially with the skills needed for post-secondary success by providing high quality instruction, real world experiences, and comprehensive support in a professional environment.
Our Long Term Instructional Goals: Students at ACE Amandla are collaborative and critical problem solvers who actively participate in relevant project-based learning. We encourage students to be curious and reflective learners who are self-advocates and communicators.
Director of Curriculum & Instruction Key Job Responsibilities:
Curriculum:
Develop and modify school wide curriculum maps in alignment with ISBE Priority Standards and national standards for each subject area (Common Core, NGSS, ACTFL, ShapeAmerica, CCTC).
Assist teachers in the development and implementation of unit plans and daily lesson plans.
Provide ongoing feedback on submitted unit plans and daily lesson plans.
Provide professional development surrounding best practices and fidelity of curriculum implementation.
Instruction:
Provide bi-weekly coaching walkthrough and coaching feedback to teachers regarding instructional performance and practice aligned to school wide initiatives.
Participate in Leadership Team bi-weekly walkthroughs.
Conduct two informal observations and two formal observations for instructional staff.
Support hiring and management of instructional staff.
Provide professional development support surrounding instruction and assessment.
Create long term and short term plans for teacher improvement and development.
Student Achievement:
Monitor and report on student academic performance metrics during MTSS briefings.
Collaborate with academic teams to continually improve personal practice, classroom instruction, assessment, and student achievement.
Identify and oversee academic interventions, initiatives, and celebrations for struggling learners.
Collaborate with the Director of Special Education (DoSE) and English Learner Teacher Partner (ELTP) to ensure the needs of students with diverse needs are met.
Maintain school website with appropriate academic content.
Director of Curriculum & Instruction Qualifications:
Eligibility to work in the United States on a full-time basis (Required).
Active Illinois Teaching License (Required).
Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction (Preferred).
5 or more years working in a high school setting (Preferred).
The Director of Curriculum & Instruction reports to the Principal and Board of Directors.
