Under the direction of the Vice President for Enrollment Management/Marketing and Student Services (VPEMMSS), the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management (AVPEM) is responsible for the development, strategic direction, implementation, and evaluation of all recruitment activities related to prospective college undergraduate freshmen (first year) to Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU).
Other key responsibilities include assessing needs, data analysis, developing and implementing recruitment travel, and event management.
Essential Functions
Develop, implement and evaluate data informed strategic recruitment plans for traditional freshmen (first year) recruitment.
Overall responsibility, via recruitment strategies, the freshmen (first year) recruiting teams and collaboration with campus partners, for meeting the enrollment goals for undergraduate freshmen (first year) admissions.
Supervise the freshmen (first year) recruiting staff and Assistant Director of Admissions Events.
Collaborate with the Athletic Director on athletic recruiting, including goals and strategies to attract student athletes to NDMU.
Develop, in collaboration with the VPEMMSS, yearly freshmen (first year) recruitment goals.
Develop Recruitment Travel and assist admissions staff with high school and college fair targeting, and NACAC college fair participation.
Recommend Budgetary needs for recruiting to the VPEMMSS.
Develop strategies to engage alumni in recruiting.
Assist the VPEMMSS in data informed student search strategy development and implementation.
Develop strategic enrollment tactics for “soft touch” freshmen (first year) recruiting, using various strategies such as personal selling and networking, e-mail, tele-recruiting, information sessions, etc.
Drive innovation through strategic initiatives that are planned in accordance with current market factors and opportunities that are specific to Notre Dame.
Serve as a member of the Strategic Enrollment and Marketing Committee(s) and other committees as appropriate.
Develop and maintain a strong team of enrollment professionals, including but not limited to hiring, evaluating, disciplining and the termination of staff in conjunction with the Human Resources Department.
Perform such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required.
Qualifications
Knowledge: Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. A Bachelor degree is required.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience in higher education (private college or university preferred). The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to engage in strategic recruitment planning and implementation, data and trend analysis, and program development, and have significant experience in developing and implementing enrollment management activities. Experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity with evidence of progressively increasing responsibility is required.
Skills/Aptitude: The selected candidate must possess demonstrated administrative and management skills, along with strong leadership and excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively represent the University with external and internal audiences and stakeholders. Strong initiative and ability to devise solutions to complex problems and effectively manage multiple long and short term strategies, programs, and objectives. Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students. An appreciation and commitment to the history, values and mission of NDMU. Position requires the use of independent judgment and discretion in decision-making and to make seasoned business judgments and offer sound guidance on priorities, issues and directions. Knowledge of and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Ellucian Colleague), Enrollment Marketing Platform (Liaison International’s EMP) system, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), and other applicable technologies.
