Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Vice President of Credit Risk & Lending to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services, quantitative analysis, and risk assessment.
The SVP of Credit & Lending will support our mission statement of 'Your Finances, Our Focus' by enhancing the lives of our member's financial success. They will manage the delivery of credit risk management through oversight of underwriting, funding, loan processing, commercial lending, and collections services. The SVP will ascertain improving weighted average returns (WAR), identify and manage risk areas, minimize credit losses, and maximize recoveries. They will cooperate with other departments to ensure that daily activities comply with regulations and policies and participate in the overall management of the credit union as a member of the senior management team.
Responsibilities
Direct and monitor all applicable underwriting, funding, loan processing, collections services, and commercial lending services.
Lead business development activities for commercial lending and create annual sales objectives.
Develop, propose, and implement credit union credit risk management, lending policies, procedures, and strategy.
Establish a robust personnel development program through training and compensation initiatives.
Serve as a member of the Commercial Credit Committee, CECL, and the Asset/Liability Committee.
Ensure compliance with all lending, service, depository, and CUSO regulations and guidelines.
Maintain current knowledge of competitive and economic conditions affecting the Credit Union.
Performance Measurements
Manage overall credit risk in the loan portfolio.
Report the level and trends in loan risk to the board and senior management.
Oversee and monitor departmental functions to achieve strategic goals.
Enhance, develop, implement, and enforce lending policies and procedures.
Develop performance metrics and reports for all loan types.
Maintain acceptable risk & internal control standards.
Ensure all activities comply with the credit union's mission and vision statements.
Participate in the credit union’s strategic planning.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree.
Extensive experience in financial services industry, 5 to 10 years of similar or related experience.
Strong background in risk analysis and underwriting.
Knowledge of financial software systems.
Ability to conduct data mining and statistical analysis effectively.
In-depth understanding of regulations affecting loan and deposit programs.
Strong supervisory, compliance, leadership, written and verbal communication skills.
