Job Description - NP or PA Bone Marrow Transplant Program (3309298)Bone Marrow Transplant Advanced Practice Provider (Four 10-Hour Days!)
Join a supportive Advanced Practice Team in a role supporting the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. This practice specializes in the care of patients with hematologic malignancies requiring bone marrow transplantation. This team has a demonstrated history of providing exquisite, evidence-based patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to work in this invigorating and collaborative environment. The bone marrow transplant APP will provide direct care to outpatients. With an interdisciplinary team approach, this provider will promote a collaborative relationship between providers, professional nurses, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of patient care in the management of their disease and related issues as well as to develop expertise in the field.The bone marrow transplant APP develops, implements, and evaluates a plan of specialized health care for this oncology patient population throughout the care continuum. Promotes a professional and collaborative relationship and effort between the advanced practice team, medical staff, professional nursing staff, and administrative staff.Primary Responsibilities:
The bone marrow transplant NP/PA provides direct care to this patient population in collaboration with the attending physicians and respective disease center teams. The NP/PA will be responsible for:Performing and recording the patient history and physical examination and discussing findings with the collaborating team.Utilizing advanced practice knowledge to identify, prevent or solve complex and/or recurring bone marrow transplant patient care problems.Managing patients (in collaboration with MD) enhancing continuity of care.Overseeing specialized procedures particular to the select oncology population mutually agreed upon with collaborating physician.Collaborating with staff and physicians to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinate resources.Educating patients regarding a variety of issues associated with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and transplantation.Writing orders which are in accord with current guidelines including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.Providing consultation to both nurses and physicians and serving as a resource to staff in area(s) of expertise.Participating in the development of formal and informal educational programs for nursing and support staff.Monitoring patient outcomes in accordance with defined standards of patient care.Evaluating current research findings for clinical specialty and determining applicability to practice.We offer a variety of comprehensive benefits packages to eligible employees:Medical, Dental and Vision insuranceTuition ReimbursementGenerous paid time offResources for childcare and emergency backup careHospital paid retirement plan and tax-sheltered annuity planEmployee “Perks” - enjoy discounts on tickets and passes for everything from ski resorts to museums to sporting events.You contribute to our success.
