Director of Business Development and Capture .
The Director of Business Development and Capture will report to the SGI leadership team and will serve as an integral member of that team. He/she will develop, communicate, and implement business development (BD) strategy, practices, and programs that perpetuate the company's revenue growth. He/she is also responsible for capturing additional opportunities. He/she will be able to work independently under the general direction of senior management on all phases and levels of performance, including BD, Capture, teaming, developing, and closing deals and partnerships, coordination of resource needs, coordination with corporate resources and management, and has direct accountability for the technical correctness, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.
In short, the position will manage and execute aspects of BD strategy and implementation, while simultaneously supporting the leadership team on growth and capture initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Expand market share and increase revenue;
Work closely with the company's senior leadership to shape and execute the organization's overall business strategy;
Serve as a resource for executive leadership for developing practice areas and strategy, relationship management, capacity building, and client diversification;
Develop win strategies and growth plans based upon the overall business strategy, market analysis, and internal capabilities;
Develop and manage relationships with potential and existing customers by cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers;
Establish third-party teaming relationships and leverage existing contracting vehicles to capture new opportunities;
Determine budget and resource allocation for the business development department;
Manage the internal mechanisms to progress opportunities through the business development pipeline from lead generation through agreement and launch;
Identify personnel resource needs and make hiring recommendations;
Facilitate BD learning companywide, including tracking and analyzing lessons and best practices from individual proposal efforts, client debriefs, and competitor trends;
Devise the business development policies, processes, procedures, systems, and third-party providers ensuring quality, effectiveness, and efficiency;
Define and monitor metrics to ensure successful management and deployment of BD initiatives;
Ensure legal compliance throughout all initiatives;
Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and consistent learning with a commitment to quality;
Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors and promotes the company's core values.
Coordinate the efforts of the prime, subcontractors, team members, vendors, and customers;
Act as the central point of contact with internal and external customers;
Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders;
Act as the main liaison to the HQ staff for all administrative issues;
Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, project control analysis, scheduling expenditures, and analyzing variances.
Education and Experience:
Master's degree strongly preferred; PMP certification a plus;
Knowledge of federal government programs, specifically DoS, DoD, DHS, and DoJ preferred;
Demonstrable track record of success developing significant new business that generates bookable revenue with federal, state, and local government;
Demonstrated expertise in translating business strategy into supporting business development initiatives;
High levels of business and market acumen and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically;
Minimum ten (10) years of experience in capturing programs and performing BD initiatives;
Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills;
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Experience in a fast-paced environment.
