Responsibilities include the planning, development, and implementation of all the before and after school activities under the guidelines of the YMCA School Age Curriculum. This role also involves oversight of all program activities, communicating with families, and ensuring all equipment and supplies are available.Site Location:Shaw Campus: 421 P St. NWSchedule:Monday-FridayBefore Care:

2:30pm-6:30pmSome of the exciting things you will do as a Group Leader include but are not limited to:Implement the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA, the School Age Curriculum (i.e., Creative Curriculum).Effectively carry out appropriate lesson plans.Establish structure and routines for children, setting boundaries and behavior guidelines.Ensure the safety of the children at all times, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessary.Attend parent/child events as required.Effectively communicate with parents throughout the program year.Maintain an attractive and clean classroom at all times.Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of age.Must have a high school diploma or GED. Obtain CDA within 18 months of employment. Current CPR and First Aid Certification required.Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test is necessary.Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting.Must meet the county/state licensing requirements.Must have the critical skill of being able to relate to parents, school staff, and children, and have a positive, creative attitude.Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to meet OSSE requirements.Working Conditions:Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.Must be physically active to play games and sports with the children.Must be able to pick up at least 35 pounds.Must have visual acuity to observe all children.Did you know that just for being a YMCA employee you get great benefits and discounts from banks, credit unions, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Dell, Veterinary Pet Insurance, supplemental (AFLAC, ALLSTATE, Vision Care, LegalShield) and even Zip Car!
