Position: Senior Group Leader Salary: $18.00 per hour

About the JobThe Senior Group Leader position is responsible for assisting the School Age Child Care Director/Site Director/Group Leader in the daily operations of the program. Maintain a safe, clean, engaging classroom for our Before and After-School programs. SGL will plan, prepare and execute various activities with participants including STEAM projects, group games, HEPA and PHD activities, Character Development curriculum and provide homework assistance. Assists in oversight of all program activities, communicating with families and ensuring all equipment and supplies are available.

Plans, supervises and implements the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA, the School Age & YUSA curriculumEffectively develops and carries out appropriate lesson plans that can be followed by staffDevelops a substitute folder containing lesson plans, daily schedule, special activities, and emergency informationIncorporate developmental Assets into the curriculum activities for childrenEstablishes structure and routines for children setting boundaries and behavior guidelinesSupervises other staff (Group Leaders) in the performance of their dutiesResponsible for the safety of the children at all times, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessaryAttends parent/child events as requiredEffectively communicates with parents throughout the program yearMaintains an attractive and clean classroom at all timesReports concerns, conflicts, or other problems directly to the supervisorEnsures that all supplies and program needs are available at the time necessary for the participantsOther duties as requiredQualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of ageMust have high school diploma or GEDMust obtain CDA within 18 months of employmentCurrent CPR and First Aid CertificationDocumentation of physical examination and TB skin testClear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprintingMust meet the county/state licensing requirementsMust be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to meet OSSE requirements.90 Hour Certification (45 hour Growth and Development and 45 hour School-Age Method and Materials) required or attained upon employment.Hiring contingent upon passing background check and drug screening.
