United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) is searching for our next President and CEO to continue our work in our Second Century of serving the people of Tarrant County. UWTC brings people together to build strong communities where everyone thrives. As a nonprofit leader, we help communities tackle tough challenges and work with private, public, and nonprofit partners to boost education, financial stability, and health resources. We also serve as the regional grantee for Tarrant County’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA), invest in and maintain a cooperative relationship with the state’s 2-1-1 call center and provide support to local veterans, active military personnel and their families through our partnership with the Texas Veterans Network. United Way of Tarrant County and AAA employ approximately 80 people dedicated to our mission. We celebrated our 100th anniversary in 2022 and are ready to serve Tarrant County for years to come.
UWTC is seeking a dynamic organizational leader who can compellingly articulate the mission and vision and will extend the impact of UWTC through their leadership throughout Tarrant County. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will also lead in communicating the vision and program objectives to internal and external constituencies and will work collaboratively with the board, staff, and volunteers in formulating policy, developing strategy, raising funds, and achieving performance standards. Key achievements for the President and CEO will be best defined in terms of the organization’s success in having more measurable impact within our four focus areas – Community Response, Financial Empowerment, Community Health, and Education and Learning.
POSITION SUMMARYThe next President and CEO of UWTC will serve as the organization’s primary representative in the community, representing the organization to internal and external stakeholders including its employees, board members, businesses, nonprofit organizations, volunteers, clients, and residents. The successful candidate will possess a high level of broad business and leadership skills to effectively lead the operations and ensure the organization is well-run and financially strong. Additionally, the President and CEO will connect people to the mission and purpose of the United Way so that it will continue to be seen as a relevant and necessary component of the broader social services community. Specifically, this includes:
Community Leadership – Provide collaborative leadership for and with community partners, leaders, and agencies.
Organizational Leadership – Participate in partnership with the Board of Directors in setting organizational direction, developing organizational goals and operational plans, and achieving goal-based results. Lead succession planning initiatives to ensure the right leaders are in place.
Development and Management of Resources – Oversee growth and management of United Way’s human and financial resources.
Accountability for Operations and Fiscal Integrity – Maintain accountability for the overall operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within the policies set by the Board of Directors.
The President and CEO plans, develops, and establishes policies and objectives for the organization, in accordance with board directives and corporation charter, by performing the following duties personally or through organizational leaders. Organizational Leadership
Demonstrate strategic leadership balanced with authenticity, respect for others, and trust building within the organization and with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Board to refine and implement the strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff, and priorities are aligned with the core mission.
Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals.
Build a diverse and inclusive Board representative of the community that is highly engaged and willing to leverage and secure resources.
Coordinate activities related to the United Way Board of Directors, Executive Committee and all other bylaw standing committees.
Serve as an ex-officio member of all division and department committees.
Serve on various human service boards and committees to further the delivery of human services in Tarrant County.
Coordinate activities with the state (United Ways of Texas) and national (United Way Worldwide) organizations to further the effectiveness of the United Way in Tarrant County.
Skilled and Creative Fundraiser and Development Professional
Possess a high-level of business acumen and broad management skillset.
Generate and grow financial support for the organization, raising funds by effectively engaging a variety of donors and volunteers to contribute to advancing the mission.
Ensure the flow of funds permits the United Way to make continuous progress toward the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential.
Builds and cultivates a network of relationships and diverse funding sources, influencing and leveraging United Way’s unique position to proactively increase visibility, reputation, and competitive advantage to generate interest and a passion for investing in community.
An effective storyteller, the President and CEO will exude an authentic, confident, and humble spirit enabling them to represent UWTC with a wide range of donors, including corporate leaders, foundations, community partners, and government agencies.
The successful candidate will also embrace digital transformation and technological innovation as it pertains to fund development and donor stewardship.
Strengthening Infrastructure and Operations
Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal communications with staff throughout the organization; create and promote a positive multi-cultural work environment that supports consistency.
Provide the fiscal oversight for the organization’s investments, budgets, and financial controls and reporting.
Collaborate with the various department staff in the development, implementation and monitoring of annual operational plans and strategic plans.
Partner Mindset and Network-Oriented
Value and leverage the power of networks by leveraging the United Way system, its collective power, and breadth of community presence, relationships, and strategies.
Provide leadership at the local, regional, national, and global levels.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSSalary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
